“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” – a two thousand old quote. What it’s saying is that your thoughts dictate who you are. In other words what you predominantly think about defines your personality, character and everything you have in your life!
What is ‘Disciplined Thinking’? “We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make our world.” – The Buddha. If that’s true, then it means that if your thoughts are out of control, your life is out of control. Fairly good argument for putting some effort into taking control of your thoughts. “A thought, even a possibility, can shatter and transform us.” ― Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche.
Disciplined thinking is simply gaining control over what you think about yourself and life. What you put in your mind influences what you think. Remember those scary movies you watched as a kid, then had nightmares? It didn’t take long to realize that the way to avoid the nightmares was to stop watching that kind of movie.

In our schools, the emphasis is on what students need to learn, whereas little emphasis—if any—is placed on training students how they should go about learning the content and what skills will promote efficient studying to support robust learning.
[Need Career Guidance Online Assessments to help with subject choice?]
That’s where I stand in and help schools and parents! Teaching students how to learn is as important as teaching them content because acquiring both the right learning strategies and background knowledge is important—if not essential—for promoting lifelong learning.
Research has found that students vary widely in what they know about how to learn, according to a team of educational researchers from Australia writing last year in the journal Instructional Science. Most striking, low-achieving students show “substantial deficits” in their awareness of the cognitive and metacognitive strategies that lead to effective learning—suggesting that these students’ struggles may be due in part to a gap in their knowledge about how learning works.
[Need some parenting tips to raise your teenager?]
Teaching students good learning strategies would ensure that they know how to acquire new knowledge, which leads to improved learning outcomes!
